Bastet or Bast is the Egyptian goddess of fertility, motherhood, childbirth, joy, passion, and sensuality.  She's a protector, and a lover of music, dance, cats, intoxication, women's secrets, magic, and sex.

She's also known for her wrathful vengeance, she's the counterpart of Sekhmet, known as her twin sister, the goddess of destruction. 

Bastet is associated with protective ointments, prevention of contagious diseases and guards against evil spirits. 

She's a caring, compassionate and protective goddess.  She's known for her wrath when needed.

Her cult was centered around the city of Bubastis and is worshipped throughout upper and lower Egypt.
